Go BackGrant Success
Woodside Explorer Scout Unit have been successful in securing a grant of £1,500 from the Cashback for Communities Small Grants Scheme to help us increase the provision of backwoods activities in our programme.

The grant will allow us to send a few of our leaders on a course with Backwoods Survival School to increase our knowledge of backwoods activities including shelter building, food foraging, fire lighting etc.

Following this, we will be able to purchase a range of equipment including dutch ovens, bivvy bags, pruning saws, knives that will help us to improve our programme.

We will be looking to run four evening sessions and two weekend activities over the next 6-months; a timeframe that will allow us to offer backwoods as a suitable skill for the achievement of the Chief Scout`s Award.

We are indebted to Cashback for Communities for the award.
